We began our day with a heavy breakfast, which was a must because of the late lunch we were going to be having. Once we finished our meals, we headed down to the church to collect the items for the children, and off we went to Pheak Sneang, a village in Siem Reap.
Upon reaching Pheak Sneang, we met up with the children and did a performance for them. To our delight, they returned the favour, and sang to us too! It always warms the heart to hear them sing.
We then got involved in a novel and humbling experience: bathing the children. In Pheak Sneang, the kids only bath once a week due to the scarcity of water. Can you imagine only being able to bath once a week? It taught us to be grateful the little things in life, such as access to clean water. What really touched us were the sincere smiles of gratitude the children gave us, after their baths.
When bath time was over, we played a bit of soccer with the kids, before bringing them for lunch. On their menu today was rice soup.Following lunch was another session of interacting with the children. As with the previous two villages, we coloured and folded origami with them. We then gave them balloons and clothing, which again brought priceless smiles to their faces.
After distributing the gifts we went for our late lunch at the Farm of Jesus. The farm itself is huge, with the person-in-charge telling us that it is a place that villagers come to to learn farming skills. The farm even had crocodiles on it!
At last, it was time to head back to the hostel, but not before we stopped by some souvenier shops!
Today was certainly a long one, but despite the fatigue, the group is elated to have made so many kids happy. For now, it is time to rest.
Till tomorrow!
