Co-founder and director of Project Happy Feet Deborah Chew was invited to speak as a panelist at a leadership summit organised by GE Women’s Network Singapore. The event saw an attendance of more than 200 women employees from GE Singapore and was held on 1 August 2013 at a hotel ballroom in Tanjong Pagar.
During the panel discussion, Deborah Chew sat alongside fellow-panelist Sunila Shivpuri, who is Managing Director, Regional Head, Global Technology Asia Pacific of Deutsche Bank. Deborah spoke candidly about her own personal experiences in life, and shared life lessons gleaned from taking on leadership position at work, in life, and running Project Happy Feet. Of the many reminders, the one that inspired the most is:
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Following the event, the organisers dropped the following note to Deborah:
“Many thanks for your very moving panel discussion at the GE Women’s Leadership Summit last Thursday. Your willingness to share your experiences so openly with our women touched our hearts, and certainly made a huge difference to us all … particular your dedication to charity and your tireless work with Project Happy Feet – very inspiring. Thank you for your immense generosity, and giving us the opportunity to learn from you.”
Project Happy Feet, too, would like to thank GE and the Women’s Network Singapore for giving us a platform to share our story and inspire more women to make a difference in their lives, at the work place, and to the community. Special thanks to Mei, June, Jiuan, Sophia and Swastika for your hospitality and hardwork!
