Project Happy Feet presents cheque donation of SGD66,182.40 to MILK Fund.

It was the culmination of many months of hard work, as Project Happy Feet (PHF) presented a cheque for $66,182.40 to the MILK Fund, at a ceremony this afternoon at the office of MILK Fund. Presenting the cheque on behalf of PHF were co-founders, Deborah Chew and Grace Chia, and Chef Jimmy Chok, who conceptualised the Chefs for a Cause idea, and roped in the nine remaining chefs.

The amount is 80% of the funds collected from donations received at the Chefs For A Cause event and the sale of the Recipes From The Heart cookbook, both of which are PHF initiatives.

The other 20% of those funds, or $16,545.60, will go to four of PHF’s beneficiaries, namely, Know One Teach One (KOTO), Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam (HSCV), the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, and beneficiaries of The Church of Siem Reap. The funds will be used to support scholarships for children and youth, and nutrition programmes for undernourished children in both Cambodia and Vietnam.

Held in December 2009 at the Swissotel Merchant Court Singapore, Chefs For A Cause saw 10 local chefs come together to whip up a gourmet three-course meal for 600 children beneficiaries of the MILK fund.

The same 10 chefs then lent their recipes to put together Recipes From The Heart, a collection of recipes and inspirational quotes from those 10 chefs, which was sold at $68 per book.
