No mountain high enough for making a difference

Upon being informed of the HUGS NEPAL fund raising dinner from a friend, David Lim a motivational speaker and mountaineer who lead Singapore’s first Mount Everest Expedition decided that it was an event he had to be part of.

David contacted Emily and Eileen to be part of the dinner event as be felt that this was a perfect opportunity to do something for the underprivileged children living in the Solu Khumbu region. Having lead the very first team of Singaporean mountaineers scale up the Everest, Nepal is obviously a country that he has much sentimental value for.

It is no secret that David suffers from Guillain-Barre Syndrome and is partially disabled. Yet he chooses to focus on the things he can achieve rather than on things which are not within his practical reach anymore.

What is the driver behind his motivation? Living and working to a set of values that he calls his own.

On contrary to what most people believe, David spends most of his time travelling around the globe delivering motivational and leadership skills presentations instead of trekking up mountains. Like Project Happy Feet, he believes that education and training is the most sustainable method to empower the lives of people.

At the dinner, David made an inspiring presentation to the attendees who were present. The message was simple: To do well in life, all you need is a dream that you work on daily. He knows that Lester and Sox’s dream of building a school for the children will be accomplished in spite of all the challenges, as theirs is a burning passion that would overcome any obstacles that may come their way.
