On 27 April, Project Happy Feet’s interns and volunteers Grace Goh and Fei Ying shared the story of Project Happy Feet with 28 youth leaders from the chaNgE.PACER Council to inspire them to champion projects in Innova Junior College (IJC).
This was part of a two day workshop to introduce the Community Engagement Leadership Programme, organised by the National Education Branch of Ministry of Education (MOE) and OnePeople.sg (OPSG), Singapore’s national body for social cohesion and racial harmony, which spearheads programmes and initiatives to bring the different ethnic communities in Singapore together.
During the one hour segment, Grace and Fei Ying shared about Project Happy Feet and what it does, and drove home the message of how a simple idea paired with passion and persistence can spark great change.
The students were also given a glimpse of what it was like to be a volunteer with Project Happy Feet and the events organised by the non-profit, such as Project Happy Feet Slipper Race.
Inspired by the Project Happy Feet story, some videographers from MOE, present at the workshop, requested to conduct an interview with Fei Ying and Grace. The interview would be included in a production which will be used for national education curriculum in public schools.
Project Happy Feet would like to thank OnePeople.SG for the opportunity to be part of its programme to inspire and empower youths in community leadership
