Miss Singapore World joins PHFSR

If you think the person walking next to you at Project Happy Feet Slipper Race looks like Miss Singapore World 1999, you’re not mistaken.

Singapore’s beauty queen Audrey Quek has signed up for the first-ever Slipper Race to support education and training of underprivileged children and youths to empower them to alleviate poverty.

The former Miss World Fuqing 2000 and Most Beautiful Mum 2007, who is now managing her own image consultancy as well as her own fashion label ‘Dress-up Box’, took time off her hectic schedule to take part because she believes that “it’s all for a good cause and a great way to contribute to the less fortunate.”

Wanting to share this meaningful event with her loved ones, the founding director of Audrey Quek Image Consultancy not only helped spread the word and asked her friends to sign up, she also signed her daughter up for the event.

“It may sound a little early, but I want my 4-year-old daughter to appreciate having a pair of slippers, or to have shoes to walk in, and not take things for granted.”

Bless her heart.

So what do you do when you discover that a pageant queen and image consultant is joining the event? You quickly catch up with her to get some dress-up tips. Just so we can look good while doing good.

Being a good sport, Audrey indulges us and replies: “For girls, a nice pair of hot shorts or skorts (shorts beneath a short skirt) will be great to show off the legs, and probably also to get a nice leg tan! Or wear a bikini under a nice tank top, or halter neck. A playsuit (tube top & bottom combined) will also look cool by the beach.”

“For guys, a shirt of Climaxcool material will be great for the sun. Or get into a pair of running shorts or beach shorts (surfer’s style). Importantly, get your pair of shades and hat ready for the day out in the sun!”

Whoa. Our slipper race just got hotter.
