What is a YEP trip without a partner organization? Our partner organization, Living Hope Children’s Home (LHCH),was founded by Pastor William John together with 4 other pastors back in 2002. Currently there are 2 homes, namely in Bangalore and Odisha.
The idea of setting up the home was first initiated when Pastor John saw many children roaming the streets during his church visits to Bidar and Gulbarga (states in the north of India). He spoke to the parents of the children and found out the reason. Due to financial insecurities, many families migrate from the rural to urban parts of India. As parents were unable to support their family, children were left to roam the streets or to work to support the family. This prevented many children from getting the proper and necessary education.
Mission of LHCH
a Christian organisation committed to providing opportunities for underprivileged children to develop into successful citizens through a mix of innovative educational and social programmes
Vision of LHCH
To become the leading non-profit organization in India by providing shelter, education and healthcare for the underprivileged children and to develop them into globally-savvy leaders of tomorrow
LHCH consists of 3 areas – Church, Headquarter and the Home:
Church
The Church is open to the children as well as the public. Church services are conducted every Sunday morning. It is a one storey compound and consists of 2 rooms.

Headquarter
The Headquarter is located just next to the church. It is a two storeys compound with adjacent toilets. Currently, the older children from the home (children who are attending universities) will stay on the 2nd level.
Home
The Home is within walking distance from the Church and the Headquarter. It is a one storey compound with one girls room, 2 boys room, a kitchen, toilets as well as a holding area. There is a field in front of the home where sports are conducted.
This year the home houses 155 children with several full time staff. Apart from funding, Pastor John also faced problem regarding the land. The land which the Church and Headquarter occupies is under dispute between the landlord and the government. On top of that, the landlord wants to reclaim the land where the Home stands. Hence the coming years will be very critical for the continuation of LHCH.
